Agrinergy and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) launch series of Climate Change Workshops

“Climate and Carbon Market – Challenges and Opportunities” is a series of workshops on the opportunities, potential and scope in the carbon market for Indian industries, being organized by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in association with Agrinergy Consultancy (P) Ltd across the states of North India.

The purpose of these workshops is to generate awareness amongst the CII members about the Clean Development Mechanism (Carbon Credits) with an objective to enable participants to identify the in house projects with the potential to generate Carbon Credits. This practice will not only bring a financial incentive to the project proponent but will also be a tool to scale up this practice which will add to the noble cause of preventing Global Warming. It also elaborates on the potential benefits they can gain in terms of carbon credit revenues as well as implementing projects leading to sustainable clean development.

These workshops aim to provide a thorough understanding of the Climate Change issues that are of direct relevance to the industry. It would provide industries with an understanding of the climate change mitigation practice. The series of half day workshops would bring together leading global CDM experts, one of the world’s largest carbon credit buyers and Indian businesses having interest in the field of renewable energy and carbon credits. These workshops are designed to provide the delegates with in-depth insights into the existing and future trends, opportunities and challenges of the carbon markets. The schedule for the workshops is as follows:

• 8th Dec 2009 – Ludhiana
• 9th Dec 2009 – Baddi
• 10th Dec 2009 – Chandigarh
• 11th Dec 2009 – Dehradoon/ Haridwar
