This conference was organised by IBC Asia and was attended by sugar mill executives, traders, sugar users, oil and energy industry analysts, trade, project finance and private equity experts as well as technology specialists.

Robert Taylor spoke on the subject “Carbon Credits – A serious Offering to Sugar?” and outlined the possibilities that Carbon Credits generated via the CDM mechanism offers to the Indian Sugar Industry.

Agrinergy developed and implemented its first CDM projects in the sugar sector and has a particularly strong track record in this industry and has also been on the forefront of methodology development in this sector.

Examples of Agrinergy’s project portfolio in sugar and biomass include Coimbatore based RSCL for whom Agrinergy developed a CDM project for grid based bagasse cogeneration. Agrinergy is now developing a similar project with BHL, the largest sugar producer in India at eight of its plants.
